We gave Hornby's new magnetic NEM-mounted couplings to Tony Wright and asked for his thoughts, while testing their tractive limits.
Hornby's new range of magnetic couplings are now with stockists and are available via its website. These have been designed as a more discreet and easier to operate alternative to standard NEM-mounted tension-lock couplings.
Available in packs of eight pairs, variants cover buckeye-outline shapes (R7398), vacuum pipes at 20mm spacing (R7399) and vacuum pipes at 17mm spacing (R7400). Featuring neodymium magnets, the accessories are fitted with NEM sockets, for simple retro-fitting to stock equipped with NEM-mounted coupling sockets.
