This soft-back volume illustrates abandoned railways and stations in the Garden of England.
This soft-back volume illustrates abandoned railways and stations in the Garden of England. There is an excellent mix of pre-closure pictures and shots taken after closure, usually not long after. The reproduction is generally excellent, with a good mix of colour and black and white images. There is a lovely facsimile map included, showing all the routes which used to exist in Kent, and an excellent index. It’s not just bucolic byways which have closed, and the crumbling former grandeur of Dover Marine and Tunbridge Wells West stand as a stern reminder of the transience of any of our railways.
