We turn our attention to Revolution Trains’ Class 59, or more specifically, the Class 59/0 with its Class 59/1 and 59/2 to follow with distinct variations of detail. Here, we highlight our top five reasons why we think modellers should be ordering one…

1. Attention to detail

There’s a lot to take in with the detail of the model and the differences within a small class of five locomotives. Impressive stuff!

2. Pipes and conduits

Below body level, the General Motors’ design is for accessible pipes and conduits, which are a headache for model toolmakers, but it’s all there and looks great.

3. Illumination

The star of the show has to be the lighting functionality of this model, with all headlights and marker lights on during both daytime and night-time running, they look great with a nice tone and no light bleed.

4. Easy access

Lubrication points for each driven axle mean that there’s no need to dismantle anything for routine maintenance and access to the decoder socket and internal switches is easy with a lift-away body section.

5. Excellent performance

On test, the new Class 59 managed a full trainload with ease.
