A decade ago, Scale Model Scenery produced its first kit, a Victorian Ale House. To celebrate its birthday, the kit has been upgraded and re-released.
Completely rebuilt from the ground up, using all of the new materials the firm has access to, and the techniques developed over the years. The model now boasts layered laser-cut windows, brand-new, hand-rendered photorealistic wall textures and pre-weathered roof slates.
Based on the real Red River Inn in Gwithian Cornwall, the design stays faithful to the original kit. The pub complex is supplied as three individual buildings: main pub, annex and village shop, which can be positioned as per the real thing, or separately on your layout in any arrangement to suit the space available.
The window fitments now use an easy-fit method to install them, making them much quicker to assemble, while still giving the modeller the appearance of real wooden sash windows. All the windows are glazed using the acetate supplied, allowing the builder to detail the interior if they wish.
The poseable doors on all of the buildings feature engraved and layered details. There's a selection of wall and door signage to add that extra finishing touch, including a pavement board advertising home-cooked food. Also included is a selection of drains and cellar doors to add further detail if required.
