Rapido Trains UK launches a brand-new 009 range

To kick-start the new Rapido Narrow Lines range is a brand-new locomotive that is customisable and available in a variety of colours, complemented by a new wagon range featuring numerous body styles. With models representing rolling stock that could be run on a myriad of narrow gauge railways.  

009 Gauge Kerr, Stuart & Co. Long-Tank Sirdar Class 0-4-0

The new Kerr, Stuart & Co. Long-Tank Sirdar Class 0-4-0 range includes 6 additional colourful liveries and all versions are available in both DCC-Ready and DCC-Fitted, and feature 6 wiper pick-ups, and a small coreless motor with flywheel.

Throughout the range, there are standard, stove pipe and balloon stack chimneyed versions, as well as cabs with either doored or plain backsheets. In addition to this, some models are fitted with cane bins.

The new model comes with an array of detailed parts to customise the locomotive, including screw in alterative chimneys, dumb buffers, vacuum brake gear, toolboxes, coal bunker covers, and front steps.

Rapido has also collaborated with Fourdees Ltd, who will be offering a new range of 10 body kits that include this new model’s chassis. These will be available to pre-order directly from Fourdees Ltd.

009 Gauge ‘All-Purpose’ Wagon Range

A new wagon range has also been revealed, which includes dropside open wagons, cylindrical tank wagons, gunpowder vans, covered vans, single-veranda brake vans, manriders, livestock open wagons, peaked roof wagons, stake wagons and bomb carriers.

All of the models in the ‘All-Purpose’ wagon range share a common underframe and are fitted with traditional NEM compliant 009 'hook and loop' couplings, compatible with other manufacturers' designs.

Each ‘All-Purpose’ wagon variant is available in a selection of colourful liveries, and there are also numerous interesting private-owner branded wagons throughout the range.

To go alongside the range, Rapido is also joining forces with Rails of Sheffield and The Wagon Yard to offer exclusive wagons, including a bomb carrier.

Both the 009 Gauge Kerr, Stuart & Co. Long-Tank Sirdar Class 0-4-0 and ‘All-Purpose’ wagon range are already at the tooling stage and available to pre-order now either directly from Rapido or from any of its Official Retailers.
