As part of its National Collection in Miniature series, Locomotion Models of Shildon has announced the commission of an exclusive A4 from Hornby. The model outlet at the National Railway Museum at Shildon has a renowned appetite for comissioning models of the National Collection in OO gauge with a gloss finish. Its latest will see the most famous member of the A4 'Pacifics' No. 4468 Mallard produced by Hornby in its as-built 1938 condition with its signature museum sheen finish as a single item for £189.95 or as part of its 80th anniversary gift set, boxed with a Rapido Models/Rails of Sheffield Dynamometer Car in 1983 condition, for £369.95.

Designed by Nigel Gresley for the LNER, and built at Doncaster in 1938, No. 4468 Mallard became famous for its record-beating run on July 3, 1938 when it ran with the Dynamometer car, included with the anniversary gift set.The Hornby models are DCC-ready and feature a five-pole motor for smooth running.
