Models exceed estimates at auction

A report from Warwick and Warwick’s latest toys, postcards and cigarette cards sale, shows above anticipated bidding in its model railway section.

Auctioneers Warwick and Warwick has issued the results from its toys, postcards and cigarette cards sale, held on January 18. In its O gauge section, lot 555 a Bassett Lowke three-rail locomotive estimated at £120 sold for £156.

Meanwhile, its OO gauge section was popular with lot 570, a mixed-collection selling for £900, with an original estimate of £550. Lot 592 followed suit with an estimate of £240, selling for £660. Its Bachmann section proved ever-popular, with lot 624 selling for £870, (original estimate £300) showing that it’s not just locomotives that are sought after!

Jessica Lowe of Warwick and Warwick said: "The train section is always popular, and we saw some expressive bidding from our keen-eyed buyers on Wednesday. Our next die-cast, model soldiers and toys auction will be held on Wednesday March 15, 2023. I like the idea of presenting high bids. Unfortunately I could not magnify the lot to review the contents.
