The Manchester Model Railway Society had been exploring all the possible ways to stage its annual exhibition, scheduled for December 11th & 12th, but has reluctantly decided to cancel.

According to the club, it found it would not be financially viable to stage the event in a way that ensured the safety of everyone while maintaining the variety and quality that visitors have come to expect.

The 83rd MMRS exhibition will now take place on the 10th and 11th of December, 2022, at the Sugden Centre, M1 7HL. The exhibition will feature approximately 30 layouts, most of which have appeared in the modelling press, a wide variety of traders, and other attractions.

The MMRS was founded in 1925 and is one of the oldest model railway clubs in the country and is based in Sale, five miles southwest of Manchester city centre, approximately half a mile from the M60. The clubrooms are home to six layouts in most of the popular scales, one is fully complete, three are largely complete, and two are in progress, including a brand new layout, which is in the early stages of construction.
