Decorated samples of the OO gauge Clayton diesel-hydraulic prototype (DHP1) have arrived, with estimated delivery expected before the end of the year.
Available in DCC Ready (£160.00), DCC Fitted (£190.00), and DCC Sound (£260.00) variations, the new model comes with the following specification;
- 21-pin DCC socket with easy access to Directional LED Lighting
- Heavy die-cast metal chassis with central motor and flywheels
- Separately fitted wire handrails and sandpipes
- Etched grilles
- Sprung buffers
- Flush glazing
According to the KR Models Facebook page, the DHP1 will be available in three liveries: prototype red, BR green, and BR blue.
Originally ordered as a Rolls-Royce demonstrator, this locomotive was meant to showcase the power of its engines and hydraulic transmission. Clayton modified the Class 17 drawings to suit the requirement as they were designed around the same time, although the 17 was about 4ft longer, the general layout was identical, testing didn’t go to pla,n and it was soon relegated to works shunter for the final 2 Class 17’s being built (the 2 with Rolls Royce engines).
You can order the model direct from the KR Models website.
