It’s January, which means Hornby is making its new model announcements for the year ahead. Here are some of the highlights…
Steam locomotives
The biggest news to come from the announcements is the arrival of the Saint Class, which interestingly topped the GWR section of the RMweb Wishlist poll this year, so it’s going to be a welcome addition to the range.
77 locomotives were built between 1902 and 1913, most lasted into the 1950s, but were then all scrapped, although the Great Western Society has a project to rebuild a Hall to a Saint.
Lady of Legend and Lord Palmer will be produced in GWR livery and will be available at the start of 2026, priced at £234.99.

More from Hornby...
200-years celebration
Playtrains
The Playtrains range is being upgraded with on-board rechargeable batteries replacing the permanently connected carriage carrying AA cells. A number of new sets are joining the range, including a Steam Goods Express set, complete with controller, and the new top-of-the-range Mega Train set, with two trains, buildings and lots of track for £89.99. Individual items like a new diesel loco, a sidings track set and a high-speed train coach pack also join the range.
Beatles
More Beatles-liveried wagons are going to be launched for the collector, with a series of vans showing the UK and USA album covers on either side (£22.99 each) and a set for the Anthology series for the same price. More striking will be the 100t tank in Yellow Submarine colours, available from November, priced at £29.99.
Beer Wagons
The ex-Lima six-wheel tank has been re-liveried into a series of fictitious brewery liveries. Initially, there will be examples from the Northdown and Wensleydale breweries, with beers from each on the side. The new wagons will be available from May, priced at £24.99 each.
