Owner of the giant ‘O’ gauge 200ft Heaton Lodge Junction Simon George, has launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise the £100,000 still required to finish the huge extension to the existing layout.

Simon comments, ‘the original phase 1 of Heaton Lodge Junction which took around 6 years to build largely on my own, cost around £230,000. This ongoing second phase will come in at around £100,000 and take another 18-20 months to complete. I want this to be a layout we can all be part of and enjoy’.

Bolted onto out-of-town shopping outlets once finished, the layout will visit locations from Exeter in the South West all the way to Aberdeen in Scotland.

Simon continues ‘ In return for minimum donations of £25, two free tickets to view the completed layout at any of its touring locations will be offered.

In addition, the person donating will receive an on-location ‘behind the scenes’ tour for two.
A £100 donation gets unlimited visits for two people plus all the above.

Regular monthly updates are already available online through the Britains' Biggest Model Railway YouTube channel.

The phase 2 extension of Heaton Lodge will include giant O gauge building to scale, such as a power station, Blue Circle cement factory, a scale replica of Toton Traction Depot & MGR train unloading facilities.

A large new station is also being constructed plus moving radio controlled vehicles will traverse the road system.

The era modelled is also changing with DB Schenker, Freightliner, GBRF, DRS & Colas being heavily prominent on heavy freight working. Full length Class 43 HST’s will feature on passenger working.
