Modellers can now build there own J17 and Austerity 0-6-0ST locomotives thanks to new kits available from Brassmasters.

The new kits are now available to modellers, both of which can be built in OO, EM or P4 and come in a variety of versions.

The first is for the long-lived Great Eastern Railway J17 0-6-0. This features a resin printed boiler/Belpaire firebox and tender, representative inside motion and etched compensated chassis. Costing £145, three prototype variants are available: the early unsuperheated, which were all modified by 1932, and the superheated engines, either unfitted or vacuum brake fitted which lasted until the early 1960s.

The second new addition is an etched brass and nickel silver kit with resin boiler/firebox for the Austerity 0-6-0ST, which can be built in five main prototype versions: the original 50550 class, the 'Standard' Austerity and the LNER/BR J94 prior to the fitting of the extended bunker, with extended bunker, with the bunker “de-extended” and the 'Lambton' version with cut-down cab. In later years, these engines were used by the NCB and other industrial companies. The kit has a compensated chassis and costs £150.

Both new kits are available to order now direct from Brassmasters website.
