Are large-scale wagons the preserve of model engineers? Wagon Works thinks not, and claim their latest kit is easy to assemble with simple hand tools and glue.
Their new Midland D607 7 plank wagon had its first outing this month, even though there hadn't been time to complete the paint job.
It features opening side and bottom doors, working brake gear, working leaf springs, steel drawgear and steel buffers with working buffing leaf springs. A 6mm thick steel floor gives it enough weight to run empty. The working leaf springs are stiff enough to account for this so the wagon can still carry a load.
No machining or special skills are needed to construct the wagon. No heat treatment, no lathe, no milling machine, no silver (or any other) soldering. No need to buy fixings. Wagon Works claim modellers can complete the wagon from start to finish in a few weekends.
