Bachmann: new 'Mainline Hunslets' for OO9

Depicting the locomotives built for the Penrhyn Quarry Railway in North Wales, large 0-4-0STs are announced for the scale.

With the years new announcements dominated by OO and N scale, OO9 takes centre stage this winter thanks to the Bachmann Narrow Gauge range and the introduction of the Mainline Hunslet locomotives.

Depicting the trio of locomotives built for the Penrhyn Quarry Railway in North Wales, these large 0-4-0 saddle tanks build on the success of its narrow gauge Double Fairlies first released twelve months ago.

Charles, Linda and Blanche are all modelled faithfully, with locomotive- and era-specific detailing and liveries to capture each prototype authentically in miniature. Constructed with a die-cast metal saddle tank, cylinder block, frames, footplate and chassis block, these powerful models are driven by a coreless motor and flywheel with all-wheel pick up, separate metal bearings on each axle and a Next18 DCC decoder socket with pre-fitted speaker.

A new feature for OO9 scale is the firebox lighting which can be enjoyed when the separately-fitted, hinged firebox door is posed in the open position. The three models will be available this November in standard or sound-fitetd format.

The narrow gauge theme continues in the Scenecraft range where the Ffestiniog Railway’s famous Harbour Station at Porthmadog is replicated in 4mm:1ft scale. The trio of buildings is available in two colour schemes.

These new items can only be purchased from Bachmann stockists, with the first release from the Winter 2022 British Railway Announcements due to arrive with stockists in the next two weeks.
