AIMREC obtains short-term unit lease

Opening December 7, 2019, visitors can see a variety of model railway layouts, free of charge at weekends.

Ashford Borough Council has offered Ashford International Model Railway Education Centre (AIMREC) a short-term lease of a unit in Ashford, Kent. The location, in close proximity to Ashford International Railway Station is situated within the new Picture-House Cinema Complex in the town centre, which is to be turned into a showcase suite.


The suite is to be open every weekend from December 7, 2019, 10.00 – 16.00 with free admission and will be used to display model railway layouts in various scales, along with display information panels showing the public, investors and sponsors of the project, its aims and vision for a future 38,000 sq.ft. Centre located in County Square.

Commenting on the preview opening Martin Coombs said “We are especially pleased to announce we will be hosting the layouts of the Men of Kent team from the Channel 5 series The Great Model Railway Challenge, with opportunities to meet the team and talk about their experience on this TV show.”
