John Medley from the Doncaster and District Model Railway Club wanted a layout that was more 'home-based'. Having worked for 27 years for the British Railways Board, initially in Doncaster Works and then the National Supply Centre he felt a layout based on Wakefield to Doncaster would be ideal.
