Revolution Trains – the company set up to use crowdfunding methods to bring niche models to the British model railway market – is to offer the distinctive IWA (UIC: Sfins2) hold-all ferry-vans, and their subsequent timber carrying conversions (UIC: Rfnoos), as its next ready-to-run wagons in 00 gauge.

The wagons were built by Waggon Union in Germany from 1987 and feature two-piece integral sides and roofs that can be raised and slid over each other to allow unencumbered access to each half of the wagon for loading. These are operated by the distinctive twin handwheels at each end.

They have been used for fertiliser, steel, aluminium, newsprint, bottled water and other palletised goods.

In 2012 30 were converted into log carriers with the removal of the hoods and door opening equipment and the fitting of heavy-duty stanchions. These are now in use on timber traffic between the Cornwall, South Wales and the Scottish borders serving the Kronospan works at Chirk.

Revolution would like to thank Touax for all the assistance they have provided. CAD design work is now underway and we will send images when we are ready.

The model will be to a similar specification to their MMA box wagons, which are currently being shipped, with NEM pockets, fine details and NMRA weight specs.
