Looking for a pre-weathered Class 47 in OO gauge with peeling paint, but without the modelling? Kernow Model Rail Centre's latest model should suit...

In July 2018, Cornish model retailer, Kernow Model Rail Centre announced it had comissionned Bachmann Europe to produce a model of Class 47/4 locomotive 47537 Sir Gwynedd / County of Gwynedd as an exclusive model in OO gauge.

Interestingly, rather than a simple weathered finish, it depicts the locomotive in its final days of BR large logo livery, before its repaint into RES livery in December 1992. Building on the success with its model of 47706 which gained praise from its customers when released, the new model is now available DCC ready for £189.95 and DCC sound-fitted for £274.95.

Named in 1982 and receiving large logo in 1986, 47537 depicts the locomotive in very careworn condition. Modern factory paint techniques are put to good use to depict peeling bodyside paint, faded blues with underframe and body sprayed weathering. A neat touch are the paint markings on each tyre of the model. Half of the run has already sold on pre-orders and from the image below, it's easy to see why.
