A list of decoration revisions has been sent to China and production of the models is underway, with final assembly required before shipping to the UK.

Accurascale has shown decorated samples this week of its forthcoming OO gauge PFA wagons. Declaring that the project has been progressing swiftly since it was announced at our Alexandra Palace show at the end of March, 2019, several decorated samples have now been received for assessment with its different styles of container.

"While we are happy with most aspects of the wagon, including the fully diecast frame of the flat itself, the fidelity of the various containers, crispness of the tooling and the beautifully fine separately applied detail, we are not so keen on some of the colours used", Accurascale has said.

It has claimed that the yellow used on the Cawoods sample is too bright and the tampo printing requires attention, too. The DRS nuclear container also needs adjusting, being a tad too red.

Accurascale has said that the corrections can be easily adjusted and shows how valuable the decorated sample process is. Other areas that require attention are the hooks on the tension lock couplings which it claims will look better on the final model. The tampo printing and assembly, particularly around the buffers and plaques will be sorted out too.

The images show that the crispness of the diecasting and underframe detail is superb. The containers are accurate too, with real definition and variety on offer to cover all eras from 1986 to the present day. The manufacturer has declared that the wagons are sweet runners, with plenty of weight from the diecast chassis and little rolling resistance, allowing modellers to run long trains as per British Gypsum, Cawoods and British Fuels.

As alterations have been required the delivery date has been revised to September, 2019.
