The Class 25 has been a mainstay of Bachmann’s diesel portfolio for many years, but this all-new version is a huge step forward. Here are six reasons we think you should be placing an order for one…

1. Cab detail

The detail inside the model is superb, with the engine compartment detail visible through the side windows. The driver’s desk includes detailed instruments that can be seen when the cab lighting is turned on!

2. Excellent performance

From the box, the model is typically weighty and robust for a Bachmann product and runs beautifully, quietly managing a load of 15 Mk.1 coaches thanks to the 5-pole motor, twin flywheels and metal gearbox.

3. Controllable lights

The model includes directional headcode and tail lights on analogue control with configuration via DIP switches under the fuel tank; the faint and uneven glow behind the headcode characters is excellent – barely visible! On DCC, the cab and engine room lights can also be controlled.

4. Riveting roof!

The very fine painted rivet detail on the grey roof panels is a real highlight!

Wheely nice

Aside from the excellent bogie detail and relief, it can be seen that Bachmann has made the wheels with the correct holes.

Fine detailing

The all-important look of the face of the model is much improved, with fine detailing such as etched wipers and wire handrails.
