140 W4 Peckett locomotives were built for various industries between April 1885 and February 1906. Received for review in the office this month is an example in Port of London Authority blue, depicting locomotive No. 74. Operated by the port between 1943 and December 1957, the locomotive was second-hand, having entered service in 1890 with William Baird & Co. at its Ironworks in Coatbridge, North Lanarkshire and avoiding the cutters torch when sent for disposal to R.S Hayes of Bridgend.
