Warwick and Warwick’s train auction hosted yesterday, (May 17) attracted competitive bidding. Its model railways section started brilliantly. Lot 283 was the start of its O gauge section and this lot included coaches and wagons and sold for £990, with an estimate of £380. Lot 289 featured a Hornby O gauge No. 2 Special Class 4-4-0 LMS 1185 maroon clockwork (with key) locomotive and tender and sold for £168, with an estimate of £100.

Lot 278a, a live-steam 1½in:1ft scale Allchin traction engine, with maroon body with copper highlights, red and silver wheels, which sold for £1,500, £1000 above estimate.

Jessica Lowe of the auctioneer said, "Overall, the sale was a great success and received some fantastic bidding. The N gauge section always catches the eyes of the buyers and lot 294 was no exception with it selling for £810, with an estimate of £300.

"Lot 295 was another unboxed collection but with locomotives as well and sold for £720 with an estimate of £240. The OO gauge section continued to sell well, with lot 300 having one of the highest estimates at £3,700 and it sold for £9,000, proving that higher valued lots are just as popular. It has been so lovely to receive positive feedback following the sale, we are always happy to help."

Warwick and Warwick's next Toys, Postcards and Cigarette Cards auction will be held on Wednesday July 19, 2023, with a catalogue expected to appear on its website in the next few weeks.
