Mid-Suffolk Light Railway to welcome East Anglia Traction Engine Society Rally for day of steam-powered road and rail entertainment.

Suffolk's award-winning only standard gauge heritage railway, the Mid-Suffolk Light Railway is to provide a stopping point for the East Anglian Traction Engine Society’s Rally on July 20, 2022. A normal steam railway timetable is said to be in operation, with opening times of 10.30 – 16.00.

During the day, the railway will be visited by dozens of traction engines from one of the oldest and largest traction engine societies in the UK, as the vehicles make their sedate way from the Grange Mechanical Music Collection at Palgrave to Woolpit.

East Anglian Traction Engine Society

The East Anglian Traction Engine Society was founded in 1955 to promote the preservation and running of all types of steam traction engine.

Traction engines won't all be on site at once, but will stop in at the site, one at a time, or in groups. Visitors to the site can watch the traction engines negotiating the entry to Brockford Station concourse, while the Mid-Suffolk Light Railway will be open with steam train rides in operation, together with its facilities, museum, refreshment room, souvenir shop, restoration shed visits and a real ale bar. Prices are £10.00 adults, £5.00 children under 16, families (2+2) £25.00, concessions £8.00.
