The Model Centre (TMC) has a new premises located in Widnes. The newly refurbished 1000 sq. ft suite is now home to TMC’s pre-owned model department.
Talented staff, recently recruited from former retailer Hatton’s Model Railways and specialists in the handling, valuing and examining of pre-owned models have joined TMC, too.
Jonathan Carroll, Ian Ford and Michael Robinson joined the TMC team recently, bringing with them many years of expertise in the retail of pre-owned models. The team is supported by two further ex-Hattons employees, Thomas Pearson and Christov Brooks-Brown, plus originals, Chris Duncan and Andy Williams in its customer service team.

TMC Director, Alex Yates said: “Distance selling can often be a cold and impersonal affair. Here at TMC we’re trying to bring the local family run model shop feel to your doorstep, especially if you don’t have a model shop nearby. Our interactive photos and expanded customer service team achieve this, whether you’re using our pre-owned service or making a purchase.”
TMC’s new space sees its operations upscaled significantly and a sizeable investment has been made in a cutting-edge photographic booth allowing TMC to deliver market-leading photography of its new listings, so customers know exactly what they’re purchasing.
“We want to provide customers with the best pre-owned model service they deserve, and this impressive new space allows us to achieve that”, commented TMC’s Howard Smith.
“This investment isn’t about speed - it’s about continually improving the quality and accuracy of our model listings for customers and delivering quality products. From our leading 360-degree photography that allows listings to be inspected as though in your hands, to our helpful customer support team – we’re continually improving – and our much-loved hassle-free service only gets better!"
TMC received keys to its new office located at Stone Cross Place in Golborne, on June 26. As a pre-owned model processing centre, it isn’t open to the public, but will be used as a model drop-off point by arrangement should customers live nearby, upon successful acceptance of a model trade-in. A video tour of the new pre-owned department can be watched on TMC’s new YouTube channel.
