Ahead of Remembrance Sunday, Andy York visits 'Rocks by Rail' to find out about "Singapore", a locomotive with a turbulent past.

When the island of Singapore fell to Japanese forces in 1942, this Hawthorne Leslie locomotive was captured, along with 130,000 people.

Now repatriated to the UK, it proudly bears its battle scars and stands as a memorial to all those prisoners of war in the Far East.

Earlier this year, Andy York visited the locomotive and learned its fascinating history from Ian Smeeton.

(Apologies for the error in the video stating the 80th anniversary is this year when it will be, of course, in 2022)
