Doncaster is still home to steam engine manufacture, but nowadays, it's in 16mm scale, and you can visit to see the work that goes into each little locomotive.

After a 4 year absence, Roundhouse Engineering has announced that it will be opening our doors to the public once more on Sunday, June 2nd, 10am to 2pm!

Come tour the factory in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, and see where the joys of live steam are hand-crafted by Yorkshire's finest. The showroom will be open for purchases, chatting with the Roundhouse team and live steam demonstrations.

Pete's bargain basement, currently limited to a select few items on the website, will have its full wares of oddities for all to rifle through.

To top it off a free buffet and hot drinks will be put on for all visitors.

Garden Rail Editor, Phil Parker adds, "I've visited the factory several times, and it's fascinating to be taken through all the processes involved in making a working model steam engine. This is a chance to experience traditional British engineering at its best. Even if you aren't thinking of owning a small steam loco, for anyone with a tiny bit of interest in how things are made, this is a captivating trip."
