Rapido Trains announce they have signed the worldwide exclusive rights to manufacture a range of models to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the iconic film ‘The Titfield Thunderbolt’ in 2023.

The range will feature a host of highly detailed new models of some of the favourite vehicles from the film alongside the historic liveries they wore outside the film - including the locomotive the film is named after.

Top of most railway enthusiasts favourite film lists, the Ealing comedy stared Stanley Holloway, Naunton Wayne, George Relph and John Gregson, and tells the story of a group of villagers trying to keep their branch line operating after British Railways decided to close it. For many though, the real star was Liverpool & Manchester 0-4-2 steam locomotive Lion, repainted and renamed for her role.

Full details of the range will be announced on Thursday 1st April at 12:00.

Excellent news, look forward to a proper 4mm scale version of the W&U coach as used in the film as well as 'Thunderbolt' - despite (more) unwanted competition from a large manufacturer not liking a smaller one trying to do things. A road going 14xx using the Faller car system too?!?
