The retailer joins forces to offer models of Heljan's newly-tooled Class 33 in the short-lived 'minimodal'-branded Direct Rail Services livery.

Rails of Sheffield is to release an exclusive livery of Heljan's forthcoming re-tooled Class 33/0 as a twin-pack. The limited editions will offer the models featuring high-intensity square headlights, LED lighting, sprung buffers and improved radiator grilles with a revised front-end as 33025 and 33030. Delivery is expected for the second quarter of 2020.

All models will feature:

  • Digital & Digital Sound Capability - 8-pin socket
  • Directional LED lighting
  • NEM Coupling pockets
  • Sprung buffers
  • Accessory pack and headcodes provided
  • Highly detailed body with separately fitted parts
  • Metal chassis
  • Five-pole motor

In 2002, 33025 and 33030 were painted in DRS's dark blue paint scheme, supplemented by Minimodal decals and were used on a small container intermodal trial. Although the minimodal venture didn't continue, the locomotives went on to work both acid and nuclear flask traffic.
