Now offered as twin-packs, Hattons' popular models return for second run under its Exclusives banner.
Hattons Model Railways is to release a second batch of its Beilhack snowploughs for 4mm:1ft scale/OO gauge. First manufactured in 2018 in 12 guises this, its second batch from the tooling will see two more additions reflecting the beginning and ends of the lives of these vehicles. Delivery is expected in Q2, 2024.
The models will be retailed as twin-packs, as the vehicles are often seen, either side of a locomotive, carrying BR yellow livery (H4-BH-013) as ADB965580 and ADB965581, or Network Rail black (H4-BH-014) as ADB965580 and ADB965581.
The Beilhack snowploughs have been a popular feature of some major yards and depots since they were converted from redundant diesel bogies in the mid-1980s, with them patiently waiting for a fall of snow to be used.
Hattons commented, "With them only requiring one or two locomotives to form a full train, they have been very popular with modellers. For this second run, we have looked at both ends of the lives of these pieces of plant and have also taken the decision to sell them as twin packs to better reflect their use.
"One set will represent the pairing of ADB965580 and ADB965581 which were based at Carlisle from the early 1990s until 1995/96 then at Crewe until refurbished by Railtrack in the early 2000s. The other portrays an up-to-date pairing of ADB965580 & ADB965581 which are currently based at Doncaster for patrolling the East Coast Mainline in Network Rail livery.
The new models will include the same features as previous releases. Numbers will be strictly limited, so pre-ordering is essential.
