Micromotor.EU has released a new upgrade kit that replaces the Chinese 401 motor with a single shaft.
Ideal as replacement motors for older stock and upgrading locomotives, the new motor, 0T009F, is used by Hornby as motor numbers X4026, X7188, X7218, X7221, X7512, X7612, X7655, X9362, X9362/M.
Available from Peter's Spares here in the UK, the new upgrade kit can be used in Hornby models Class 08, Class 4P (Fowler), Class 4P (Stanier), Class 5, Class 6P Patriot, Class 6P Patriot (Rebuilt), Class 7MT, Class 7P Royal Scot, Class 7P6F, Class 8P Coronation, Class 8P Princess Royal, Class 9F, Class A1 (Gresley), Class A2/3, Class A3, Class A4, Class N15, Class N2, Class W1, Class W1 (Rebuilt), Modified Merchant Navy, Schools class, SR King Arthur, SR Merchant Navy, SR Q1, SR West Country, SR West Country and Standard 9F.

The Chinese 401 motor types have a noticeable cutout in the metal cap. The worm gear of the locomotive is used again with the upgrade kit.
