Members of armed forces receive discount at heritage railway

The Severn Valley Railway has launched of a new offer for Blue Light Card and Defence Discount Service card holders.

The Severn Valley Railway has has introduced a new scheme for members of the Army, Royal Air Force and Navy, alongside members of the emergency services. Upon presentation of their card at an SVR booking office, service members will benefit from 33% off individual ticket prices when travelling on the Worcestershire and Shropshire heritage line.

The offer began on Saturday June 25 and will continue all year round, applying to standard services.

Michael Dunn, Head of Visitor Experience, said, “We’re delighted to be able to support our Armed Forces and Emergency Services personnel in this way."

“The Severn Valley Railway is a key destination across Worcestershire and Shropshire and we look forward to extending a special welcome to an extremely important part of our local community. This is just our small way of giving something back.”

Blue Light and Defence Discount Service Card holders can access the discount at booking offices on the day of travel and there is no need to pre-book. The SVR’s services throughout July, August and September run Wednesday to Sunday. For further details, visit the Severn Valley Railway website.
