Accurascale reveals first decorated samples of its forthcoming Class 92s and confirms production delay.

Accurascale’s team of engineers have already received the first tooling sample but felt it needed some tweaks in areas around the roof and bogies.

The first batch of decorated samples included 92001 in EWS, 92010 in Caledonian Sleeper Midnight Teal, and 92042 in DB Schenker red. Further samples have just arrived and will be revealed within the next couple of weeks when fully assessed.

The key changes centre around the glazing and the distinctive "polo mints" Channel Tunnel logos, which are a prominent feature of the real locomotives. Accurascale is also keen to tweak some of the small warning labels and also ensure the correct positioning of names and logos is in place.

Unfortunately, Covid has already delayed production of these models due to the resulting labour and raw material shortages. As a result, the Class 92 will begin production in the coming weeks and is now stated for delivery in Q3 2022. With this in mind, Accurascale has now set its early bird price deadline and a price increase from £159.99 DCC ready to £179.99 DCC ready and £259.99 DCC Sound Fitted to £279.99 DCC Sound Fitted, which will take place on January 1st, 2022. All orders placed before that date will be of the lower price, including £30 deposits.

Orders can now be placed via the Accurascale website.
