Engineering prototype for 'Toad' revealed

Dapol's forthcoming GWR 20T 'Toad' brake vans for 7mm:1ft scale look a step closer to arriving with retailers later this year, with the release of images of engineering prototypes.

Fitted with a die-cast compensated chassis, profiled wheels and axles with brass bearing pockets and promising a detailed injection moulded body with full interior detail, the images are a sign of progression with the project, with decorated samples awaited next. 

Dapol has said that these engineering prototypes are subject to review, and aren't necessarily reflective of the final production models. The full list of variants and specification of these models, including variants promised can be read here.

Vans are to represent vacuum-fitted types with appropriate components, where applicable.

Sprung metal buffers are to be fitted as standard.

Models have many separately added fine details, internally as well as externally.

Sprung metal coupling hooks and 'Instanter' or screw-link couplings where appropriate are promised.

The 10 model variants promised are expected to arrive with retailers in Q4, 2023, each carrying an RRP of £101.52.
