Revolution Trains has unveiled decorated samples of its highly anticipated N gauge 1938 stock London Underground trains at the International N Gauge Show in Warwickshire.

Showgoers were given the chance to inspect models of the tube trains in original Rail Red, 1970s era Bus Red and as preserved at the London Transport Museum in Acton in Rail Red with Bakerloo line copper brown roofs.

The models are available in 4- and 3-car sets to enable accurate 7-car trains to be assembled, and feature both Northern Line and Bakerloo Line destinations. Trailer cars have fully painted interiors with working saloon lights, while the end cars are fitted with headlights, tail lights and 6-pin DCC sockets.

2-car sets representing the trains as Class 483 units in their final years on the Isle of Wight are available in Network Southeast and SWT Island Line liveries.

Revolution Director Ben Ando said:  “This is the first time anyone has produced a ready-to-run mass market tube train in N and we have worked hard to achieve smooth and consistend running while retaining the very low look of the prototypes.”

Revolution Director Mike Hale added: “We look forward to seeing how modellers manage to incorporate them into their existing layouts, or maybe use them as the basis of a small N gauge London Underground side project.”

Checking decorated samples is usually the last step of the development process, and once testing of these models is completed and any last-minute glitches are ironed out production will begin, with delivery of the models expected early in the New Year. Available to preorder now, the prices of the new models are as follows;

  • 1938 stock underground 3-car add-on set: £174.95
  • 1938 stock underground 4-car set: £214.95
  • Isle of Wight Class 483 (1938 stock) 2 car unit: £139.95
