Darstaed Thompson coaches – EP revealed

Ellis Clarke Trains has shared images of a sample for one of its forthcoming O gauge Thompson coaches, being produced under its Darstaed brand. Looking for feedback on a sample of a BTK (brake third) from potential customers, the manufacturer commented, "We have already identified a number of improvements/alterations and, as this is a pre-production sample, some parts including the interiors and the bogie steps have not yet been decorated."

Darstaed's Thompson coach specification promises a die-cast chassis, with brass coach sides, sprung metal buffers and die-cast tilt-compensating bogies. Magnetic coupling corridor connections and Kadee couplings are to be fitted as standard, with link couplings available separately. Coaches are expected to run on Peco second radius curves.

Removable ‘slot in’ coach nameboards are expected.

To the underside, wiper pickups are visible on one of the bogies for the interior lighting, with a micro switch to isolate power.

A glimpse through one of the windows reveals detailed interiors with coach pictures, mirrors and brass luggage racks. Coach lighting and working detachable brake lamps on the brake ends is expected.
