Model manufacturer presents heritage line with donation following miniaturisation of its lineside structures.
On Tuesday October 18 2022 Bachmann Europe visited the North Norfolk Railway to present the heritage outfit with a cheque for £1,000. The donation was accepted by the railway’s Managing Director, Hugh Harkett, and follows the release of Bachmann’s OO scale Scenecraft models depicting Weybourne Road Bridge (44-0072) and the Weybourne Water Crane & Tank (44-0073).
The subjects of each model can be found at the North Norfolk Railway’s intermediate station of Weybourne, which is famed for its starring role in the TV sit-com Dad’s Army, and now houses the line’s engineering workshops and running sheds. Both Bachmann Scenecraft models were released in recent years and follow similar successful models based on buildings and structures found at other preserved railways. While the Water Crane and Tank remains part of the current Scenecraft range, the Road Bridge has now been discontinued although examples may still be found in stock with Bachmann retailers.
David Haarhaus, Managing Director of Bachmann Europe said of the occasion, “Bachmann enjoys thriving relationships with many preserved railways and heritage sites and we cannot underestimate their importance. Not only do they provide some fine subjects for our models, as is the case here with the Scenecraft models based on these structures at Weybourne, but they do so much to inspire and nurture the next generation of enthusiast. Those new enthusiasts may well become Bachmann consumers in the future, but more importantly, they will most certainly have a part to play in the continued success and prosperity of our remarkable heritage sector.”
