A royal appointment: Hornby celebrates Coronation with exclusive models

An eye-catching announcement came today, as Hornby revealed a limited-edition model for members of its Collector Club. Limited to 1000 examples to celebrate the Coronation of His Majesty the King, (R30238TXS) its Class 66 tooling has seen the application of all-over purple, numbered 06523, and named King Charles III. Fitted with TXS Sound, Hornby says that the locomotive will play 'God Save the King', too!

Models are expected to arrive in September, 2023, and the manufacturer is taking pre-orders now, limited to one per person.

With the coronation of His Royal Highness, King Charles III on Saturday, May 6, expected to be watched by millions, Hornby's latest model exclusive for its Collectors Club follows in the footsteps of its SR West Country 'Pacific' model, celebrating the Platinum Jubilee of the late Queen Elizabeth II.

Hornby said, "With only 1000 units available, this regal model won’t be around for long! Get yours while you can! If you’re not a member of our Collector Club, now’s a great time to join, as it’s the only way to buy this commemorative loco. Celebrate this historical event properly – Hornby style!

"The luxurious purple livery features a King Charles III nameplate, the date of the coronation, and the words ‘God Save the King’. We’ve also fitted the Class 66 model with sound, so you can play God Save the King as your locomotive makes its way around your layout.
